day 3 surveying
on day 3 we spent the first half of the day with 3 employees from the fisheries. who were Jordan B, Casey F. and Brian C. they took us to a few sites where they had a project they did a year or two prior I believe. we surveyed the stream they are rebuilding to where the stream can flood the plains more. I attached some pictures of the site and of the creek. we learned how to use a level that is used the measure the depth of certain assigned spots in the creek. we measured 1/4 of the way in the creek, 1/2 the way in the creek and 3/4 of the way in the creek. we helped with this until 1pm and came back to camp. where they introduced themselves and how long they been working. we took a lunch break for about an hour.
after our lunch break we worked with Juan who showed us some methods to do to test the soil that we gathered yesterday afternoon. where we tested the nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and Ph levels from the water. we did this for about an hour. than we made our way to the main Department of Natural Resources building where we had a small presentation from Warren Seyler. who talked to us about the history of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. it was a good informative presentation I learned about history that was never told in the classes in high school. and after we had that we came back to camp where everyone started to get dinner ready. tonight we had al pastor tacos for taco tuesday. I attached some photos I took through out the day. only photos I wasn't able to get of is the presentation.
