POBR2026 Day 4

 today we woke up at our usual time at 6 am. we got everything set up for breakfast and lunch. we ate our breakfast and made our lunch for the day. we packed up camp by 8 am . we started to do our data entry into our excel spread sheets. once we did part of that we used two instruments to look up the canopy coverage in the sites where we took our soil samples. the first tool we used was a Densiometer. where we would look into this curved mirror with squares on it and count the number of dots a tree canopy was in. the second instrument that we used was a plant canopy Integer. this tool is shaped like a laser gun. so when you push the trigger it will show you the canopy coverage. it was a neat instrument to learn. once we got those than we finished entering our data into the excel sheet. than we started to make our template for our posters that we will be making. after all this was done we started on our trip from Spokane tribe of Indians powwow grounds to Umatilla,OR. which was a decent drive. I attached a few pictures of todays work. two are of the sites where we took our soil samples.

day 2 fish hatchery

 today on day 1 we spent the day at the Spokane fish hatchery. when we got there we had a small instuction presentation from monette on how to make a salmon life cycle bracelet, which we helped the 3rd,4th and 5th graders make at the fish hatchery. since the fish hatchery had a student field trip day. after our lunch break before the next wave of kids showed up we had a small tour of the hatchery which was led by an employee named Anthony. we were at the Spokane fish hatchery until 2pm. once we got back to camp we took a small break and started our soil survey. where we took some soil samples and got them prepped to get tested. after we spent part of the evening getting camp ready for dinner which was chicken Alfredo, steamed broccoli and carrots, salad, and bread. which was delicious thanks to monette's cooking.

POBR2026 DAY 13 Seed Extractory and Deschutes Public library

Today we got to sleep in until 730 am. Felt kind of relieved we have a day where we're not on a tight schedule and rushing to get to the meet up spot. So having a good normal paced day feels pretty good. Today our group was in charge of getting breakfast ready and the lunch supplies. We are also helping with dinner as well. After we got our lunches made and ate our breakfast we made our trip to the seed Extractory. Where we will be getting a tour at 10 am. Which I think will be a good tour can't wait to see what goes down. I have never been here before so it will be a good experience. When we arrived here we had a small talk with Kayla Herriman who is the national seed specialist. Kayla herriman showed us a couple raw seed material one was ambrosia. Kayla also showed us where they X-ray the seed to see if it has an embryo. Because if it doesn't have an ambryo than it won't be able to grow a tree. PO R2026 Day 12 Botany Field Day

started off the day as usual the breakfast group got breakfast and lunch supplies ready. Our group was in charge of clean up. After we got everything put away we started to gather our things. We gathered our notebooks, soil sample supplies, and our shower stuff. Once we had everything packed up we started the trip to go meet up with Marlo. We stopped and gassed up the vehicles.excited to see what we will learn today. Yesterday was in my experience the best day so far.we met Marlo at the meet up spot and she is leading us to the site we will be at for the day. Can't wait to see how this day goes.once we got to the site we were on the hunt for the pumus moonwort. And I must say it was pretty awesome to look for. Put my eyes to work lol on the way back I had to stop and look at something faraway so my eyes would stop hurting. After lunch we made our way to stop at a natural spring that is rare to see in this area. After we looked at that we made our way to the second site....
